WGAP’s mission is to prevent and alleviate poverty by helping people reach self-sufficiency.
To reduce the negative impact of poverty on individuals, families, and communities.
To foster individual and family self-sufficiency, health, and well being.
To advocate for economic and social justice in our communities.
To alleviate violence through projects, community education, advocacy, and social change
To reduce hunger and malnutrition by promoting food security

In 1965, a group of residents from Skamania and Klickitat Counties formed a committee for the purpose of developing a “Community Action Agency” to fight the War on Poverty. Washington Gorge Action Programs became that agency. Serving Skamania and Klickitat Counties, WGAP is an organization dedicated to helping individuals, families, and communities address basic needs such as: food, shelter, utilities, etc.
WGAP helps individuals and families by providing opportunities while supporting their efforts toward self-sufficiency. WGAP helps communities by identifying needs and finding the resources to focus on them through partnerships with individuals, families, and communities.
