– PROGRAM OVERVIEW –
The Dalles Art Association promotes appreciation of and participation in art by operating The Dalles Art Center in the historic Carnegie Library in downtown The Dalles. As the only community art space in Wasco County, the center provides residents and visitors a chance to experience and view diverse, high quality visual art. It also provides local and regional artists a place to exhibit their work and develop new audiences. The Center works with other nonprofits and schools to get art out into the community. As part of its education outreach, the Center provides art workshops, classes and summer camps to children and adults. The Center works with the Chamber of Commerce to get more art out into the community.
Finally, the Center provides meeting spaces for a number of local arts groups including the Columbia Gorge Camera Club, Columbia Gorge Quilters Guild and a bi-monthly painting group.
Variety of classes for all age groups are offered throughout the year, ranging in skill and medium from drawing and painting to ceramic and glass sculpture . This helps the art center accomplish its vision of bringing art and the community together.
