Hospice Manager
As people of Providence, we reveal God’s love for all, especially the poor and vulnerable, through our compassionate service.
To provide expert, compassionate care for individuals as they face the end of life. Together, we answer the call of every person we serve: Know me, care for me, ease my way.

At Providence Hospice of the Gorge, we understand that each family is special. We tailor our care to the specific medical, spiritual, emotional and physical needs of each patient and family during end of life experiences.

Led by a physician medical director, our nurses, hospice aids, social workers, chaplains and volunteers form a team to care for each patient. Services are provided in the patient’s home, no matter where that home is: a private residence,
an assisted living community, an adult care home or a residential or intermediate care community.

For over 30 years, it has been our honor to serve patients and families in eight counties in Oregon and Washington.
Please call our office to find out more about hospice care.

In addition to hospice care, we offer specialized services available to patients and families:
• Child and teen grief support groups
• Adult grief support groups
• Culturally competent care/Spanish-Speaking staff
• Pet peace of mind program
•Complementary therapies:
• Massage
• Acupuncture
• Alternative music therapy including interactive life review
• Traditional thanatology

Many families and friends donate to a hospice in memory of a loved one or friend.

Charitable donations made to Providence Hospice of the Gorge are managed by the Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital Foundation to benefit local hospice patients and their families in the eight counties we serve in the gorge. Funds are used for needs of hospice patients and their families.

Financial donations are accepted via cash, check or credit card. Online donations may be made at Contact Susan Frost at 541-387-6342 for more donor information.

Our hospice volunteer training is a comprehensive preparation for people desiring a direct-to-patient volunteer experience. Volunteers receive professional instruction on all aspects of hospice care and philosophy.

Patient volunteers assist families by reading aloud, talking, playing cards, running errands, providing respite and more. Other volunteer opportunities include office support, grief support group assistance and special event support.
