Introducing adolescents to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith, in the context of a caring, unconditional, adult relationship.
Every adolescent will have a caring adult in their life who will walk through the ups and downs of life with them, and give them the opportunity to meet Jesus Christ and follow Him. Our activities are open to all members of the community regardless of their religious beliefs.
– PROGRAM OVERVIEW –
Young Life is a world-wide, world-class organization for adolescents. Our staff and volunteers enter the world of kids, focusing on what matters to them – fun, adventure, friendship and a sense of significance. In doing so, we earn the privilege of talking to them about something that we believe matters most of all – the truth about God and His love for them.
Columbia Gorge Young Life serves Hood River and several other communities in the Mid-Columbia region. We have 1 full-time paid staff member, 1 part-time office administrator, and over 30 adult volunteers and leaders reaching several hundred teenagers. We provide healthy, creative fun through weekly “club” meetings and seasonal camping opportunities/outings with leaders who make kids feel accepted.
– GIVING OPPORTUNITIES –
Young Life is a non-profit organization, funded through the donations of individuals, foundations and businesses. The overwhelming majority of funding for Young Life ministry comes from individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of kids in their communities. Many of our supporters were involved in Young Life as kids, or know someone whose life has been significantly impacted by Young Life ministry.
Corporate Giving Opportunities/Sponsorships:
Young Life has created an annual community-wide Father Daughter Dance each February to give fathers a chance to invest in their relationship with their daughters. All profits from the Father/Daughter dance go to sending local kids to Young Life summer camp at the Washington Family Ranch in Antelope, Oregon. These funds especially help kids who wouldn’t normally be able to attend summer camp or who have never previously experienced camping.
We are always looking for adult volunteers who want to enter the world of adolescents and establish sincere relationships with kids by meeting them on their “turf.” Through words, deeds, fun, and most importantly, through modeling trust, respect and responsibility, these adults earn the right to be heard and walk alongside teens through the issues of adolescence.
