Our mission is to provide representation and support of the LGBTQ+ community in the Columbia River Gorge. We envision a community where tolerance is celebrated, intolerance is defeated, and LGBTQ+ individuals – regardless of their differences – are valued and treated with respect. Key pieces of this vision include creating and promoting LGBTQ+ centric events, social gatherings, and networking opportunities in the Gorge; youth outreach; development of partnerships with and educational opportunities for local healthcare providers; and an intersectional partnership with our Gorge allies.

The Columbia Gorge Pride Alliance was formed as a vehicle to help provide representation of the LGBTQ+ community in the Gorge. In our two years of existence, we have managed to institute a local annual celebration of LGBTQ+ Pride. It is our goal to see this yearly tradition carried out for many years to come so that local LGBTQ+ residents – and their families, friends, and allies – can show pride and support for each other right here at home. CGPA is proud to sponsor a number of additional LGBTQ+ focused events – from hosting youth gatherings to introducing the art of drag to the area. In 2019 we plan to continue these events, as well as to host an all ages Queer Prom and a reprisal of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. We strive to reach out to the local LGBTQ+ youth.

Our youth committee has been at the heart of our endeavors. Part of our mission is providing them the support and guidance they need to be a safe and welcoming place for networking and social events. Additionally, CGPA seeks to be a resource for those seeking information on local and regional queer positive providers for the LGBTQ+ community. Our website has a growing trove of information and we actively respond to social media inquiries.

We are truly grateful for the support we’ve received from the local Gorge community. It is our goal to continue working with you to bring you bigger and better things every year. Our hearts have been touched by your financial donations, your words of encouragement, your assistance with everything from hanging signs to helping set up and break down events, and – most importantly – your willingness to show up and help spread the word of our existence. We look forward to a continued long and prosperous relationship with our Gorge community.

We are working to set up our non-profit status and hope to be a registered 501 C 3 entity by late 2019. Until that time, we have partnered with Pride Northwest, the non-profit who oversees Portland Pride, in order to receive your tax deductible donations.
