Mission and Vision

The mission of the Columbia Gorge Orchestra Association (CGOA) is to provide exceptional performing arts and to be a regional leader in the cultural enrichment, education, engagement, and enjoyment of audiences and participants.

» Growing the artistic development of CGOA ensembles by investing in its members and participants.
» Providing stable funding and financial support to meet the artistic aspirations of the organization.
» Building awareness of CGOA’s excep-tional performing arts.

The Columbia Gorge Orchestra Association creates local musical and theater experiences that challenge, refresh, unite, inspire and help us con-nect with one another. Under the artistic direction of Mark Steighner, CGOA is bringing more than 13 events and 36 live performances to Gorge resi-dents this season.
The Columbia Gorge Sinfonietta: Our orches-tra is celebrating 40 years of bringing high-quality classical music to our region including major symphonic works, world premieres and nationally recognized guest artists.
Voci Choir: This mixed-voice community choir has grown in size and ambition, presenting world music, great choral masterpieces and several debut performances. The choir’s holiday concert is a Gorge tradition.
The Jazz Collective Big Band: Local music educators, professional musicians and talented am-ateurs explore classic arrangements as well as the art of improvisation in this high-energy ensemble.
Stages: Our theater ensemble draws on the best talent of the Gorge to present a range of musicals from classics like West Side Story to Off Broadway hits like Murder Ballad.
Gorge Youth Chorus: CGOA provides quality choral instruction to children ages 8-13 through our area-wide ensemble, which performs through-out the Gorge and with the Voci Choir.
Gorge String Quartet: The quartet plays several times a year for special events and in smaller venues where its fresh sounds and classical pieces stir the heart.
